Voter registration key to participation in upcoming election and referendum
Columbia River – Revelstoke MLA Norm Macdonald is encouraging residents to make sure that they are registered to vote. Elections BC is undergoing a voter registration drive to make sure that all eligible British Columbians are registered to vote in the May 12th provincial election and BC-STV referendum.
“Everyone needs to make sure that they are registered to vote prior to the election on May 12th,” said Macdonald. “Elections BC is sending out notices to BC households with information on how to be sure that you are on the voters list.”
Voter information can be updated by visiting www.elections.bc.ca or by phoning 1 800 661 8683.
The next provincial election will include a referendum on electoral reform which could change the way we elect our provincial representatives.
“It is very important that people be engaged in the election process, especially since we are making a decision about how we will elect Members of the Legislature in the future.”
